About Orlando and me

Orlando is an American Paint horse, a breed known for being smart, friendly, and easy-going. Orlando is very social, curious, and people-oriented which makes him very suitable as a coach horse. I bought Orlando when he was a foal. I am coaching with Orlando, and with other horses other horses at the barn where Orlando is, north of Amsterdam.

I am Judith Quax and I feel connected to horses from an early age. Through studies, work, and motherhood, horses faded somewhat into the background. When I started my Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training in 2018, I felt more and more connected to my inner self and horses came back into my life. Now I work as an equine assisted coach ~ combining my passion for horses with Kundalini Yoga.

I also work as a freelance communication specialist and photographer. I graduated in Communication Science, with a specialisation in Culture and Identity Construction. I have a deep interest in people, what moves them and how identity is constantly evolving. As a photographer and visual artist, this theme is central to my work. Also in my project Voyage à Dakar which resulted in an award-winning book and exhibition. In Voyage à Dakar, I travel overland to West Africa with my Dutch Senegalese son and along the way we are staying with friends and family (all Senegalese migrants) and we share stories about memories, dreams and desires.

The journey Voyage à Dakar is a metaphor for my work as an equine assisted coach: we go on a journey together and explore what dreams and longings you have and what obstacles there are that we can heal together with the horse.

I am affiliated with the International Coach Register.
